Sweet Sunny Sunday :)

March, 2009

With closed eyes, focusing on my breathing and the warm sun in my skin, I sat on the floor against the fence of a closed garden absorbing the sounds happening around...
... this was still Paris.

Like an orchestra with no maestro, sounds were flowing naturally as the soft wind brought them to me.

On Sundays some riverside roads close to traffic and cyclers, roller skaters, locals and tourists happily fill it in what I think to be one of the nicest ways to spend a Sunday in this city.

I found a spot on the grass and stayed sunbathing, watching the people and relaxing.

Later, while walking I listened to the sounds of people, and more languages then I could understand... a sudden Portuguese dialogue over a game of cards came as I crossed the crowded riverbank.

Up to Pont des Arts (a pedestrian bridge from where one can see the tip of Ile de La Cite), a hunchback beggar lady, repeated a request for money in monotone, making it hard to understand if one didn't notice her holding a cup while walking by ... but as I handed her a clementine, a “Merci Madame” came twice in perfect French, putting a surprised smile on my face... poor lady looking at peoples' feet all day...
I wonder if she ever would turn around to see the lovely river view everybody was eager to see passing beside her... :)
